Sessions will typically last between 60 - 90 minutes (shorter for cupping only treatments).
Initial appointments include a detailed overview of your health history, diagnostic assessment, and discussion of your goals and expectations of treatment.
Please inform us if you have any sensitivities or wish to omit any modalities.
While one acupuncture treatment may provide some relief from acute symptoms, generally the effects of treatment are cumulative, meaning they are more efficacious over time. Although treatment plans vary widely based on numerous factors such as length and severity of symptoms, I recommend starting with
at least 3-5 treatments scheduled somewhat closely together, to reap the benefits of the medicine.
Your Body: Please make sure you are adequately fed and hydrated prior to sessions.
It is advised to avoid consuming caffeine or tobacco directly before treatment.
Recommended Clothing: Loose fitting pants or shorts.
Yoga pants and leggings are not recommended as they have the tendency to cut off circulation.
If you do not have access to these, we provide medical gowns for your session.
Access to the back or stomach for cupping and acupuncture may be needed. In these cases, you may be asked to disrobe (always and only to the level you are comfortable with). You will be professionally draped at all times with provided sheets/blankets and only the area(s) being worked on will be exposed.
Post Session Care: Drink plenty of water !
It is normal to feel relaxed or even sleepy after treatment. On the other hand, some people may also feel increased levels of energy. However your effects manifest, it is recommended to rest or only engage in light movement (think gentle yoga or light walks) to encourage nervous system integration.
